Wow this has definately been a rough start to a long season. We are 1 and 3 so far, and it’s not setting to well with us. That’s the fun thing about team sports is it shows no matter how good individuals are if the team is not playing as one and trusting in each other you are screwed. That’s where the Colorado Crush are right now. We are still trying to find out who we are as a team and learning how to jell together. I think we did a better job this week than we have all year but it still wasn’t enough. We threw a pick with 7 seconds left on the 6 yard line, 3rd down going in. Some would put that blame on our QB but as we know football is a team sport and if the D-Line had gotten sacs they wouldn’t have scored or if the receivers would have cough other balls we would have scored, so it is not his fault it’s ours. Well let’s just say this week in practice is going to be looooong.

Today was the start of another marathon for me and my career. The day started at 7:00 with meetings and then straight to physicals. I passed like I always do (yeah). Then came some guys and the bench test, (225 pounds for reps) that was what I have trained so hard for so I was glad to lay down and take my turn. When I was training for my pro day in college 5 years ago I did it 39 times, since I have been working out with Will at D1 I have become much stronger. My max today was 40 reps. I am very happy with that, because I have worked so hard this off season and it showed today. We get to start full pads tomorrow and that’s when camp really gets fun. There isn’t a day in the season as fun as that first day to me, because that’s when you get to make a first impression to the coaches but more importantly to your hopefully new teammates and show them what you have to offer. Stay tuned for more of camp at my new team.

My name is Sean and I am a junior in High School. I was invited to the U.S. Army National Combine this past January 3-5. IT was a lot of fun. I am going to tell you what I did to prepare for this and what my mind was going through every step of the way.
About 6 weeks before the combine was to take place, my coach informs me that I had been invited, and that I should start training right away. So me and my dad go and sign up for 12 sessions at a workout place called D1. It’s where all athletes of all ages go and get trained with specific trainers for each sport. My trainer was a guy named Will and he played nose guard for the Jets. He was really hard. I would go to D1 for about an 1 hour and half 3 times a week for 5 weeks. At D1 we would start off with an intense stretch with running and stretching at the same time. Then we would do a combination of shuttle drills, pro agility drills, 5, 10, and 30 yard sprints with a 45 lb weight on a sled, hurdles, intense ab workouts, and offensive line drills. Every day we would do a combination of these drills. Everyday I would lift weights and get my mind ready for what was coming.
After every week I would get more nervous and more nervous then finally its time to go to the combine. As me, my dad, and my coach board the plane I just think of I am only 1 out of 5 players from Tennessee going to this combine and I just laughed at myself. My mind was full of excitement and just not knowing what was going to happen the next couple of days. When the plane landed in San Antonio, TX and we went to the hotel and I saw some of the other athletes who were invited to this combine and I knew that I was competing with some of the best juniors from across the country. Well we got unpacked and then we went to dinner and to bed. The next morning was registration and I was one of the first ones in line so I got done with that in about an hour. Then for the rest of the day me, my dad, and my coach just hung out in San Antonio until the meeting later that night. Well during the meeting this guy just talked about what an honor it is to be here with the top juniors from across the country then we went to dinner and then to bed. The next morning my group left the hotel to head for the Alamo Dome at 9:00 o’clock in the morning. That was probably the most nervous I have gotten in a long time. Well the first event my group did was the high jump and after I went, all this pressure was just released and I finally was starting to have some fun. Well, my group went to the 40 yard dash then to the 10 yard short shuttle then to lunch. After lunch we had 1 on 1 competition and the nervousness came back again. But once again, after the first time I went, all the stress went away. After that we went back to the hotel and just hung out and then went to dinner and to bed. The next morning my group left at the same time to go and watch the All- American bowl for the seniors. IT was really fun. I kept thinking that I wanted to be in this game next year. After the game went came back to Nashville. This was a really great experience.

It is still a little different showing up here every day seeing the Crush logo on everything. I am used to seeing the Kats sign everywhere but that it part of the game so I will learn to love the crush sign. Tonight I hung out in the hotel bar with some of my new teammates and just kut up we had a good time.

Today I went to the locker room to workout. The strength coach gave me free muscle milk from cytosport. They sponsor our team and we get whatever we want it is cool. Met some of my new teammates they all seem cool and I think they are happy to have me be a part of their team. I know that I am very happy to be here. John Dutton our QB is one of the best in the league he was working out also and it shows why he is one of the best he works out very hard. I look forward to next Monday meeting the rest of the guys. Tonight I went to Red Robin and ate then went and watched The Bucket List. I miss being with my family but I will see them soon and it will be worth it.

Arrived sat at the Boulder Broker Hotel about 12:30. My wife and I unpacked my car, took us forever there was so much. We went to cheesecake factory after and ate. Then we headed down to Denver to see the football facilities. The place is nice very professional had hot tubs in the locker rooms. The coaches all seem cool, it was crazy meeting people you have only seen in the other box during games. Then we came back to the hotel chilled for a bit and headed off to the airport for Tessa to fly home to the kids. I wish I was going with her but I am very excited to be at a new place in life I just wish I could do it with my family here.
